About Idea Oven
“I just want to write and bake.” I still remember the day I said that to my husband in response to his question about what I wanted to be when I grew up. Writing sparked my imagination and ignited my creativity. And baking slowed me down, helped me to be methodical and creative.
Idea Oven is the combination of those two passions. It embodies the way I work with clients. What do we want to make? What are the ingredients we need to gather? When do we need to slowly stir and when do we vigorously whisk? And most importantly, what amazing thing can we create together?
When you work with Idea Oven, you get dynamic writing, creative ideas and close collaboration — and it all smells like a fresh-baked chocolate chip cookie!
Hi, I’m Brandy
I’ve been writing professionally for more than 20 years — but I wrote my first story when I was six years old, on an unrolled toilet paper tube. Not because we couldn’t afford paper, but because the cardboard unrolled like a scroll, and that felt way more fitting to my fantastical stories of unicorns and ballerinas.
I have a BA in English and Communication Arts and an MFA in Creative Non-Fiction. I have worked in public relations, marketing and creative management, and have written everything from blogs to magazine features to direct marketing emails.
In 2024 I took the leap into full-time freelance work — but fear not, I have freelanced since I was a tiny baby writer, starting out in print magazines and moving to blogs, emails, marketing campaigns and press releases. I love learning new things and can’t wait to work with you on your next writing project!
